Mind Chatter
Self-talk or mind chatter is when we have constant conversations in our own heads. It can have a profound influence on how we feel and what we are able to do.
When you have mind chatter you just can’t switch off your thoughts. They circle around and around, repeat themselves over and over again. This continual internal monologue or dialogue - yes, you can have a two-way conversation with yourself - distracts you from your external world and being present in the moment. It can result in tiredness, memory and stress-related issues, loss of focus and concentration, insomnia, headaches, neck and shoulder tension.
To help assess your level of mind chatter use the checklist below. Tick all the statements that apply to you at this time, from all three sections. Be as accurate as possible.
